Game Maker Competitions
Competion 2
The previous competition, ran in september 2001, had
over 50 submission, among which there were many great games. You can find the best in the
Games pages. It is now time for a new competition. The deadline
will be March 15, 2002. In this competition there will be three categories:
Best multiplayer game.
Version 4.1 of Game Maker allows for the creation of multiplayer games that can
be played over the internet.
Best isometric game.
Isometric games are those that look like being 3D by drawing everything as if seen under
a 45 degree angle. Examples are Diable, Age of Empires and SimCity 2000.
You can make such games with Game Maker. A tutorial about this will be
written the coming weeks.
Best other game.
Open for any other game created with Game Maker.
The following rules apply:
Games must have been created with version 4 of Game Maker or higher.
Everybody can enter the competition. People can submit multiple games.
Games must be either editable games (.gmd) files or stand-alone games (.gmr files
for version 4.0 or the executable for later versions).
Games that come in the form of an install program are not considered.
Games should work correctly in secure mode.
When submitting a game you give automatically permission for me to
put it on the Game Maker website. Whether games will be placed on the web-site
is my decision.
There is a limit of 10 Mb on the size of your game. Preferably keep it smaller though.
When the game is smaller than 5 Mb you can send it directly. Otherwise contact me first to
avoid my mailbox from running over. You can also send me a CD (contact me first by Email).
The creator of the game is responsible for the contents of the
game. I have the right to exclude certain submitted games from the competition.
Judging will be done by me personal. There can be no discussion about the results.
There are most likely no prizes but you will get the honor.
The results will be announced within at most a month after the deadline but I will
do my best to do it a lot faster.
Submission works as follows:
Send your .gmd file or stand-alone game (preferably compressed) to gamemaker@wanadoo.nl.
Clearly indicate that the game is meant for the game competition.
Indicate in your mail that you give me permission to put the game on the website.
Give your real name and, if you want, your nickname.
You can submit an updated version of a game later, but your are strongly encourage
to wait with submitting your game until you are satisfied with it. That will save me a
lot of work.
Deadline for submission is March 15, 2002.
If you have any questions, contact me at gamemaker@wanadoo.nl.
Games that have been submitted to me since the last competition and that were
placed on the web site can be considered as submission. In this case send me an
email indicating that you want to see the game as part of the competition. (You
are of course encouraged to submit new games or updated/improved versions.)
